Die Performenden sammeln 100 Romane aus öffentlichen Bücherregalen und Secondhand-Läden. Während der Performance nehmen sie die Bücher von einem gemeinsamen Stapel zwischen ihnen, lesen einen Satz und legen das Buch beiseite. Jeder Satz soll auf den vorhergehenden eingehen, so dass aus allen kombinierten Sätze eine Geschichte entsteht. Hinter ihnen wird ein Live-Transkript gezeigt, damit die Zuschauerinnen und Zuschauer der Geschichte folgen können. Nach der Performance werden die Bücher im Ausstellungsraum ausgestellt und konnten von den Besuchern mitgenommen werden. Sie sind jeweils nummeriert und mit einem Stempel versehen. Der vorgelesene Satz ist unterstrichen.

The artists collected novels from public book shelves and thrift stores. During the performance they take the books from a stack that is arranged between them, read a sentence and put the book aside. Each sentence is intended to correspond to the preceeding one so that a story emerges from all the combined texts. A live transcript is shown behind them, giving the viewers the chance to follow the story. After the performance the books were displayed in the exhibition space and could be taken away by the visitors. Each books carries a number and a seal. The used sentence is highlighted.

Während der Öffnungszeiten der Ausstellung (fünf Tage, 40 Stunden) werden die beiden Performenden
durchgehend live in den Ausstellungsraum gestreamt. Sie halten eine Vimeo Kamera mit Mikrofon auf sich gerichtet, sie können sich frei bewegen.
​
Das Publikum kann in Echtzeit verfolgen, was die Performenden machen und sagen. Diese bewegen sich in ihrem normalen Alltag, wobei sie bei der Arbeit und in ihrem Privatleben zu sehen sind.

40 Hours Present was exhibited within the framework of Jungkunst 2019, an exhibition taking place over five days with a total opening time of 40 hours. For the whole time span of the exhibition the artists carried streaming cameras with them that were directed at themselves. The cameras streamed directly to the exhibition space where two screens suspended from the ceiling provided the viewers with the apparent presence of the two artists.

The audience gets a real time insight on the actions of the artists during the exhibition times showing their professional as well as their private lives. While incorporating the notion of artists being present during their shows 40 Hours Present also subverts the very same idea by showing the subjects in situations outside the exhibition space such as walking in public, staying home, using public transport, meeting people or visiting a museum.
